Buxton Against War
Press Release
26th August 2003
At this crucial time, when our Prime Minister is before a judge with questions of truth and democracy being raised over his conduct, Buxton Against War is continuing to campaign for a peaceful, non aggressive, just and honest approach to world problems. We are currently making arrangements for a Buxton contingent to travel to the next national anti -war demonstration in London on Saturday 27th September. The theme of the march, which will end with a rally in Trafalgar Square, will be “ End the Occupation of Iraq and Palestine”. Our coach will be leaving Buxton, from Sylvan Car Park at 7.30am on the day. If you would like to book a seat on the coach, or would like further details - phone. We are holding an open Planning Meeting, to discuss arrangements for the demo and other future events and would welcome anyone who would like to join us in campaigning for peace. The meeting will be held on Monday 8th September at 7.30pm at the Community Church Hall, Hardwick Square in Buxton. We will also be discussing plans for our Public Meeting to be held in November when Bruce Kent, the well know campaigner for peace, and Margaret Wright, Principal Speaker for the Green Party, will be travelling to Buxton to address us. Tom Levitt has also been invited but to date it seems he may not be able to attend, however we are still hoping to see him on the platform on the day. Following on from our Public Meeting in March this year many people said they would like another opportunity to question our MP over the Labour Government’s policy on Iraq – so we hope Tom Levitt will be able to attend what will be an important political event for High Peak. For anyone wishing to know more about Buxton Against War please phone.
